Cataract Surgery
Hoy Eye Center has in its surgical suite, a Stortz Millenium 2000 Phaco Machine (Phacoemulsifier), a sophisticated computer, which breaks the cataract into tiny pieces, then suctions those pieces from the eye through a very small incision. This cutting edge technology is the very latest cataract technique.
Posterior Capsulotomy
Yag Laser
Cataract surgery removes the cloudy lens and replaces it with an intraocular implant. During cataract surgery the fine skin (posterior capsule) of the lens is left in place to support the intraocular lens implant.
Retinal Bleeding
Tearing or Neovascularization
Previously, there was no equipment in Belize to address retinal bleeding or tears. Hoy Eye Center has acquired a MARCO ARGON Photo-Coagulator Laser, which is used to repair traumatic retinal tearing or bleeding.
Corneal Transplant Surgery
At present, most patients requiring corneal transplant surgery are referred to Guatemala City and Merida, Mexico. Hoy Eye Center has made administrative arrangements with Dr. Francisco Gonzalez, Chairman Corneal Transplants Association in Mexico City.
Posterior Chamber
Segment Surgery
Alcon UltraScan Imaging System is a multi-function system targeted at clinical echographic needs in B-Scan and Biometry that can provide high-resolution posterior segment images.
Computerized Glaucoma Testing
The Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer is the world's gold standard in visual field equipment. A visual field test measures your peripheral vision. It is a painless test that doesn't involve the use of eye drops.
